The Chamber meets on the first Tuesday of the month, (except January and November) at 6.30pm at the Albion Park Public School Auditorium, Hamilton Street, opposite the RSL.

Businesses, community members and individuals are all welcome to attend. There is no obligation for members to attend meetings.

Chamber History

The Albion Park Chamber of Commerce was formed by local business owners and operators on 5th September 2001 in response to concern over traffic problems in Albion Park and the Shellharbour Councils response to dealing with those traffic problems. Specifically, no-standing along Tongarra Rd.

Prior to the Chamber's formation, there did not exist an avenue for businesses to unite and express concerns over what was happening in Albion Park. From very humble beginnings, the Chamber has grown to become an accepted voice for its members, not only with the Local Council, but with the State and Federal Governments as well.

We have found it more successful to be conciliatory rather than confrontational

Our members enjoy alliance privileges with NSW Business Chamber. Gives them access to advice, tools, products and services from the NSW Business Chamber to help your members business and assist the Local Chamber to grow and retain its membership base.

We invite relevant speakers to our meetings to keep our Members informed of any new development or project concerning Albion Park. At our next meeting we have the NBNCo NSW Community Affairs Manager talking about how businesses can prepare and switch to the new technology

In 2006 Department of State and Regional Development and the Australian Government Regional Partnerships funded a paid employee to manage development projects in Albion Park. Worked closely with Council for Streetscape funding - 2006 Main Street Co-ordinator to facilitate the implementation of the Albion Park

We also managed to attract Government funding for our Crossroads project.

Our members regularly attend important Seminars and Conferences throughout Australia. We have sent Delegates to workshops

One of the Chamber's biggest coupes was to assemble a consortium of local community organisations (SHAPE) to tender to obtain government funding to run the weeklong Kidsfest Shellharbour Festival. The Festival is designed to promote a child friendly community where children are valued, supported, respected and provided for.

The Inaugural Festival in 2008 was a complete success. The expectation was that Kidsfest would become self-sufficient and the chamber handed over the running of Kidsfest.

The Chamber, with the Albion Park A. H. & I. Society, previously ran the Albion Park Outdoor Camp Kitchen Challenge. The aim of the Challenge was to promote Albion Park and to encourage tourism. We are currently looking at resurrecting this event.

2010 Destination Albion Park funding Federal Govt with Shell Council David Jessop, RTA "unhappy" and fenced off Tongarra Rd and Wombat Crossing created. Gareth Ward set up an office opposite the Wombat Crossing. Gareth elected to parliament in 2011.

Chamber pushed council for AP DCP as draft LEP did not mention Albion Park.

Neville Fredericks from Miltonbrook introduced the Chamber to Steve Thorne who is an architect and urban designer which set direction for future projects for the Chamber

2011 Draft LEP complaints Chamber paid Steve Thorn Design Urban has been commissioned by the Albion Park Chamber of Commerce to produce a submission on our behalf. This Submission relates to the Draft Shellharbour LEP.
